These were the list of my favorite K dramas that I watched already in its respective genres.
I. Medical Dramas
- Doctor Stranger (starring Lee Jong-suk, Park Hae-jin, Kang So-ra and Jin Se-yeon)
As a child, Park Hoon (Lee Jong-Suk) and his father were kidnapped by North Korea. In North Korea, Park Hoon was trained to become a doctor by his father who was already a doctor. Park Hoon became a genius like chest surgeon. He then flees to South Korea.
Park Hoon begins to work as a doctor in South Korea's top hospital Myungwoo University Hospital, but he feels like a complete outsider. To bring his love from North Korea, he does anything to make money.
- Romantic Doctor Season 1 (starring Han Suk-kyu as the title character with Yoo Yeon seok and Seo Hyun-jin)
Boo Yong-Joo was a famous surgeon with the nickname of "Hand of God." He suddenly disappeared and nobody knew exactly why. Boo Young-Joo is now as Teacher Kim and he calls himself the Romantic Doctor. He enjoys his life in seclusion.
Kang Dong-Joo became a doctor to win somebody over and Yoon Seo-Jung become a doctor to be recognized by somebody. After they meet Teacher Kim, they learn about life values and comfort from love.
- Romantic Doctor Season 2 (starring Han Suk-kyu as the title character alongside Ahn Hyo-seop, Lee Sung-kyung and Kim Joo-hun)
Boo Yong-Joo (Han Suk-Kyu) calls himself Dr. Romantic and is called Teacher Kim. He is a weird doctor who does not want to socialize with others. Boo Yong-Joo runs the shabby clinic Doldam.
Cha Eun-Jae (Lee Sung-Kyung) is a 2nd year fellow for surgery. She is smart and confident. She has never experienced discouragement or failure.
Seo Woo-Jin (Ahn Hyo-Seop) is a 2nd year fellow for surgery. He has excellent skills for surgery. His personality is cynical. Because he went through a tough life, he does not believe in happiness.
Cha Eun-Jae and Seo Woo-Jin meet the unusual doctor Teacher Kim. They grow as humans and doctors with their experience with Teacher Kim.

- Emergency Couple (starring Song Ji-hyo and Choi Jin-hyuk with Lee Pil-mo, Choi Yeo-jin and Clara)
Jin-Hee (Song Ji-Hyo) led a satisfying life as a dietitian. She then met medical school student Chang-Min (Choi Jin-Hyuk). Despite his wealthy family's strong opposition, Jin-Hee and Chang-Min decided to get married. Chang-Min's family is full of doctors. Chang-Min though gave up his medical internship and began working as a pharmaceutical salesman. Their marriage life was not happy. Chang-Min's family looked down on Jin-Hee and even Chang-Min seemed to change. Chang-Min began to think terribly of Jin-Hee and they finally divorced.
After their divorce, Jin-Hee became a medical student and now works as an intern. Chang-Min also graduated from medical school and begins to work as an intern. One day, they meet in the emergency room for a hospital where they will both work together.

When Hye-Jung was young, her life was difficult. She was good at fighting, but also studied well. Overcoming her tough situation, she is now a doctor.

Kim Tae-Hyun (Joo Won) is an excellent surgeon, but he is constantly harassed by debt collectors due to his younger sister. His younger sister requires expensive kidney dialysis. To make more money, he goes to see patients privately for a high fee. He doesn't care whether these patients are criminals as long as they can pay him.
Tae Hyun becomes a pawn in the chief’s priority of catering to VIP patients within the hospital. But his life changes when he meets Han Yeo Jin (Kim Tae-Hee), a chaebol heiress, who has been in a coma for three years. Tae Hyun helps Yeo Jin to wake from her sleep.

- Descendants of the Sun (starring Song Joong-ki, Song Hye-kyo, Jin Goo, and Kim Ji-won)
Shi-Jin (Song Joong-Ki) is the captain of the special forces. He catches a motorcycle thief with Sergeant Major Dae-Young (Jin Goo). The thief is injured during his capture and is sent to the hospital. Dae-Young realises his cellphone was stolen by the thief and goes to the hospital to retrieve his cellphone.
In the emergency room, Shi-Jin meets Dr. Mo-Yeon (Song Hye-Kyo) for the first time. He falls in love with her immediately. Mo-Yeon mistakenly assumes Shi-Jin is part of thief's criminal gang. He proves to her that he is a soldier with the help of army doctor Myeong-Joo (Kim Ji-Won).
Shi-Jin and Mo-Yeon begin to date, but due to their jobs their dates don't go well. Shi-Jin takes an order to lead his soldiers on a peacekeeping mission to the country of Uruk. Meanwhile, Mo-Yeon becomes upset that she fails to become a professor due to a colleague's privileged background. When Shi-Jin and Mo-Yeon meet again, they talk about their views on life and realise how different they are. Shi-Jin, as a soldier, kills to protect lives and Mo-Yeon, as a doctor, tries to save all lives. They say their goodbyes.
Eight months later, Mo-Yeon rebuffs the sexual advances of hospital chairman Suk-Won (Tae In-Ho) and as retribution is assigned to lead a medical team in Uruk. There, Shi-Jin and Mo-Yeon meet again.

- Hospital Ship (starring Ha Ji-won and Kang Min-hyuk)
Drama series depicts the story of young doctors who provide medical service to island residents via a hospital ship.
Song Eun-Jae (Ha Ji-Won) is a capable surgeon at a large hospital in Seoul. She works very hard at her job and will become the youngest female chief surgeon there. Song Eun-Jae is burdened with responsibility over her mother and younger sibling. Her mother lives on an island with her aunt. Her mother sometimes sends patients to the hospital where Song Eun-Jae works, which brings trouble for her. One day, Song Eun-Jae's mother, who frequently has indigestion problems, comes to the hospital. Her mother talks with Song Eun-Jae on the phone. Song Eun-Jae becomes upset, believing her mother has sent her another patient. Her mother goes back to the island without seeing Song Eun-Jae. Later, Song Eun-Jae receives a phone call from her aunt that her mother has collapsed. When Song Eun-Jae gets to the emergency room where her mother is at, she learns that her mother has passed away. Song Eun-Jae is devastated.
Meanwhile, Kwak Hyun (Kang Min-Hyuk) is a physician. He volunteers to work aboard a hospital ship as a public health doctor instead of serving in the military. He became a doctor due to his father. His father is a highly regarded physician and known as the “Korean Schweitzer,” but he has neglected his family. Kwak Hyun wants to become a good doctor, but not become like his father. He now works at the hospital ship with Kim Jae-Gul (Lee Seo-Won) who is an oriental doctor and others.
Song Eun-Jae then appears aboard the hospital ship.
- Beautiful Mind (starring ang Hyuk, Park So-dam, Yoon Hyun-min and Park Se-Young)
Lee Young-O (Jang Hyuk) is an excellent neurosurgeon with zero sympathy. One day, he becomes involved in bizarre patient deaths. He also falls in love and recovers his humanity.
- Love in the Moonlight (starring Park Bo-gum and Kim Yoo-jung with Jinyoung, Chae Soo-bin and Kwak Dong-yeon)
- Moon Embracing the Sun (starring Kim Soo-hyun, Han Ga-in, Jung Il-woo and Kim Min-seo)
Historical drama "The Moon Embracing The Sun" tells a love story between King Lee Hwon (Kim Soo-Hyun) and a female shaman named Wol (Han Ga-In). Wol was born from a noble family and became the crown princess, but she was entrapped and faced execution. Finally, she lived as a shaman.

(ep.1) The Sun symbolises the fate which only a king or a future king possess.
Instructing that the sun must become one, Queen Yoon (Kim Young-Ae) orders Yoon Dae-Hyung (Kim Eung-Soo) to kill Prince Uisung (Kim Myeong-Su), who is the stepbrother of King Sungjo. At night, Yoon Dae-Hyung and his men breaks into Prince Uisung's home.
Meanwhile, shaman court ladies Ari (Jang Young-Nam) and Jang Nok-Young (Jeon Mi-Sun) prepare for a rite at the royal palace. Ari then senses that something horrific is about to happen at the home of Prince Uisung whom she lived at as a servant. Even though Ari's roommate, shaman Court Lady Nok-Young (Jeon Mi-Sun), tells her not to go she leaves for Prince Uisung's home. When Ari veers over the wall surrounding his home she sees Yoon Dae-Hyung kill Prince Uisung with his sword. Yoon Dae-Hyung then notices Ari looking over the wall and goes in pursuit of Ari. As Ari tries to escape the assassins, she falls from a cliff.
Yoon Dae-Hyung goes back to the palace and tells Queen Yoon about the shaman Court Lady Ari. Queen Yoon puts forth a plan to manipulate the evidence at Prince Uisung's home.
Shaman Court Lady Ari is now conscious again, but severely injured. She collapses on a trail where a gama (wheelless carriage) is being carried by four men. A noblewoman (Yang Mi-Kyung), who is pregnant, gets out of the gama and tries to help Ari. The noblewoman hides the injured shaman Court Lady in her gama and has the men continue. They are able to get back into the city.
Before shaman Court Lady Ari leaves she thanks the pregnant noblewoman and tells her that she will have a girl. Ari also tells the pregnant noblewoman that her daughter will be born with noble fate. Ari also foresees the death of the baby and sees her future tomb, but Ari is unable to tell the pregnant noblewoman about this. Instead, Ari promises that she will protect the baby in the future.
Later, Ari is arrested and interrogated by torture. Shaman Court Lady Nok-Young bribes a guard to let her into the prison and talk to Ari. Ari, barely conscious at this time, asks Nok-Young to protect someone. Someone who should not come close to the sun, but should be near the sun. Nok-Young asks Ari who that person is, but Ari says she can't say.
The next day Ari is publically executed.
As Ari predicted, the noblewoman gives birth to a girl. Her father names her Yeon-Woo.
Years later, Yeon-Woo (later played by Han Ga-In) is now an inquisitive 13-year-old girl. Yeon-Woo and her mother goes to the royal palace to see a ceremony which her older brother Yeom (later played by Song Jae-Hee) will take part in and will be attended by King Sungjo (Ahn Nae-Sang). During the ceremony, while people bow to King Sungjo, Yeon-Woo sees a yellow butterfly and starts to follow the butterfly.
Meanwhile, a Crown Prince (later played by Kim Soo-Hyun) places some valuables into a small bag and sneaks out of the royal palace. While he is atop a ladder he sees Yeon-Woo walking towards him. The Crown Prince falls off the ladder and onto Yeon-Woo. They are both highly embarrassed.
Yeon-Woo then sees the bag carried by the Crown Prince on the ground. Yeon-Woo is certain that the man is a thief. Yeon-Woo calls for the palace guards. When the Crown Prince sees the palace guards coming, he grabs Yeon-Woo and runs. The Crown Prince and Yeon-Woo stop in front of a pavilion. Instead of revealing his identity, the Crown Prince tells Yeon-Woo that he is eunuch and is attempting to leave the palace to visit his brother. By this time, Yeon-Woo's mother is worried sick by Yeon-Woo's disappearance. Yeon-Woo's mother then sees Yeon-Woo walking with the Crown Prince. The Crown Prince walks off with a palace guard. When Yeon-Woo is about to leave the royal palace, a Court Lady gives her a piece of fabric with letters.
Prince Yangmyung (later played by Jung Il-Woo) is the older stepbrother of the Crown Prince. Because of King Sungjo's strict control, Prince Yangmyung can not see his stepbrother and is prohibited from entering the royal palace. Prince Yangmyung then sees a fortune teller's house with people waiting in line. Prince Yangmyung becomes curious also stands in line. At this time shaman Court Lady Nok-Young arrives to visit a little girl fortune teller. Shaman Court Lady Nok-Young sees Prince Yangmyung. Without knowing that he is a prince, Nok-Young feels that possesses the fate of sun, which only a king or future king has. Prince Yangmyung now sits in front of the little girl fortune teller. Prince Yangmyung senses that she is abused. He picks up the girl and begins to run. A bunch of men then blocks his path. One of the men snatches the girl and leaves. Then, Nok-Young stops the man and saves the little girl. Prince Yangmyung, meanwhile, defeats the other men.
At night, the Prince Yangmyung walks on a street and jumps atop the fence of someone's home. Meanwhile, Yeon-Woo can't figure out the letters on the piece of fabric she received at the royal palace. Yeon-Woo goes out of her room and then suddenly realizes what the letters mean. The letters represents the Crown Prince. She now realizes that the man she met is the Crown Prince. Sitting on top of the fence, Prince Yangmyung sees Yeon-Woo and smiles ...
- Tale of the Nine Tailed (starring Lee Dong-wook, Jo Bo-ah and Kim Bum)
Lee Yeon (Lee Dong-Wook) was once the mountain spirit of Baekdudaegan. He sacrificed his life as a mountain god to resurrect the life of the woman he loved A Eum. Lee Yeon now lives his life as a nine tailed fox in human form. He has lived this way for hundreds of years.
Meanwhile, Nam Ji-A (Jo Bo-Ah) works for TVC station as a PD of documentaries. She seeks out stories on the supernatural. Back in 1999, her parents were involved in a car accident in Yeou Gogae. She remembers a man that saved her in that accident. Now, Nam Ji-A reviews CCTV footage from a wedding hall where the bride disappeared. She sees the man that saved her as child walking out the wedding wall with a red umbrella. His name is Lee Yeon.
- Goblin (starring Gong Yoo in the title role with Kim Go-eun, Lee Dong-wook, Yoo In-na, and Yook Sung-jae)
In ancient times, Kim Shin (Gong Yoo) is an unbeatable general in wars, but the young King (Kim Min-Jae) is jealous of Kim Shin and kills him. Kim Shin becomes Dokkaebi (Goblin), possessing an immortal life. At first he thinks that he is blessed, but he realizes that he is cursed.
Closer to the present day, Kim Shin has waited 900 years for a human bride to end his immortal life. One night, he saves a dying pregnant woman (Park Hee-Von) who is destined to die. Meanwhile, the Grim Reaper (Lee Dong-Wook) is unable to find the dead pregnant woman. The woman gives birth to a baby girl named Ji Eun-Tak (later played by Kim Go-Eun). 9 years later, Ji Eun-Tak lives with her mother and is able to see ghosts. One night, her mother suddenly dies. On that night, she meets the Grim Reaper.
In the present day, Ji Eun-Tak is a high school student. She still sees ghosts and hears their whisper of “Dokkaebi’s bride.” She now lives with her aunt’s family, but she is mistreated by them. On her birthday, Ji Eun-Tak sits by the sea with a lighted birthday cake. At that time, Kim Shin suddenly appears in front of her. Kim Shin does not know why, but he can hear her voice and appears in front of her against his will. Coincidentally, Kim Shin lives with the Grim Reaper at the same house.
Now, Kim Shin appears in front of her against his will, whenever she turns off the lights. One day, Ji Eun-Tak tells him that he is Dokkaebi and she is his bride.

- Legend of the Blue Sea (starring Jun Ji-hyun and Lee Min-ho)
Sometime during August, 1598, newly appointed governor Dam Ryung (Lee Min-Ho) stays for a night at an inn run by Mr. Yang (Sung Dong-Il). During that evening, Mr. Yang shows Dam Ryung a captured mermaid named Sim Chung (Gianna Jun). Later that night, Dam Ryung releases her into the ocean and, before she swims away, Sim Chung reaches out her hand to Dam Ryung which he briefly holds.
In the present day, Joon-Jae (Lee Min-Ho) is a smooth talking conman with magician like abilities. He works with Nam-Doo (Lee Hee-Joon) and Tae-O (Shin Won-Ho). For their next score, Joon-Jae impersonates a prosecutor and swindles a large amount of money from a wealthy suspect's mother. Joon-Jae then travels abroad and stays at an oceanside resort. Meanwhile, Sim Chung is swept up in a tidal wave and washed ashore near the oceanside resort. She sees Joon-Jae.

- Moon lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo (starring Lee Joon Gi, Lee Ji-Eun, and Kang Ha-Neul)
Hwarang, also known as Flowering Knights,were an elite warrior group of male youth in Silla, an ancient kingdom of the Korean Peninsula that lasted until the 10th century. There were educational institutions as well as social clubs where members gathered for all aspects of study, originally for arts and culture as well as religious teachings stemming mainly from Korean Buddhism. Chinese sources referred only to the physical beauty of the "Flower Youths". The history of the hwarang was not widely known until after the National Liberation Day of Korea in 1945, after which the hwarang became elevated to a symbolic importance.
The Hwarang were also referred to as Hyangdo ("fragrant ones" or "fragrant disciples" – 향도; 香徒), the word hwarang and its colloquial derivatives being used for everything from playboy to shaman or husband of a female shaman. The word remained in common use until the 12th century but with more derogatory connotations.

- Voice Season 1 (starring Jang Hyuk and Lee Ha-na)
Moo Jin-Hyuk (Jang Hyuk) was a popular detective who solved major cases, but after his wife was murdered by a serial killer his life spiraled down. He is filled with guilt that he was not able to protect his wife and he secretly looks for her killer.
Meanwhile, Kang Kwon-Joo (Lee Ha-Na) graduated at police academy with top marks. She began to work at an emergency 112 call center. Working there, a brutal murder case takes place and her father/police sergeant went to the crime scene. Her father is killed there and Kwon-Joo hears what happened over the phone. Afterwards, she goes to the U.S. to study and comes back to Korea as a professional voice profiler.
Detective Jin-Hyuk and Kang Kwon-Joo solve cases together. Chasing a serial killer responsible for the deaths of their family member.
- Voice Season 2 (starring Lee Ha-na and Lee Jin-wook)

Hae-Young (Lee Je-Hoon) works as a criminal profiler and is also a police lieutenant. Even though he is a cop, he doesn't trust cops due to his own past experience. Back in 2000, when Hae-Young was in elementary school, his classmate Yoon-Jung was kidnapped and later found dead. Hae-Young saw a woman taking Yoon-Jung from school that day, but the police announced that the suspect was a man. Hae-Young even went to the police station and told the police officers that he saw the kidnapper and she was a woman. The police officers though didn't pay attention to him. The killer was never caught and her case remains unsolved to this day.
Hae-Young meets a reporter at a cafe to reveal bombshells about a celebrity scandal. Meanwhile, veteran detective Soo-Hyun (Kim Hye-Soo) is at the cafe staking out the meeting, unaware that Hae-Young is a cop. She arrests Hae-Young for stalking celebrities. While leaving the police station (the same police station he went to as a kid), Hae-Young hears someone talking to him. He looks around to find a walkie-talkie. The man who is talking to Hae-Young is Detective Jae-Han (Cho Jin-Woong). The detective though is from the year 2000 and he is investigating the disappearance of Hae-Young's elementary school classmate. Hae-Young and Detective Jae-Han begin to communicate via the walkie-talkie.
- Iris (starring Lee Byung-hun, Kim Tae-hee, Jung Joon-ho, Kim Seung-woo, Kim So-yeon and T.O.P (Choi Seung-hyun) of Big Bang)
Two elite National Security System (NSS) agents, Hyeong-Jun (Lee Byung-Hun) and Sa-Woo (Jeong Jun-Ho), who were sworn blood brothers, both fall for fellow agent Seung-Hee (Kim Tae-Hee). Sa-Woo attempts to suppress his feelings for Seung-Hee and wishes the couple the best.
Hyeon-Jun is then sent off on a solo mission to Hungary. In Hungary, Hyeon-jun accomplishes his mission and while in escape mode becomes wounded. Shortly later, Hyeon-jun finds out that he was betrayed by fellow agent Sa-woo. Seung-Hee attempts to help Hyeon-Jun escape, but a car explosion separates the two and both are misled to believe that the other person are dead. Hyeon-Jun is then saved by an unknown voice and learns of the secret society "IRIS".
One year later, Hyeon-Jun returns to Korea to seek revenge. During this time, the two Koreas are set to reunify, while the group "IRIS" are intent on stopping the reunification.

- Vagabond (starring Lee Seung-gi, Bae Suzy and Shin Sung-rok)
Cha Dal-Geon (Lee Seung-Gi) is a stunt man who dreams of becoming a world famous action actor. His career is floundering, while he tries to take care of his nephew as his guardian. His nephew takes a flight from Incheon to Morocco for a taekwondo exhibition, but the flight crashes. In Morocco, Cha Dal-Geon sees someone in public that was a passenger on the fatal flight. He becomes convinced that someone or some group sabotaged his nephew's flight.
Go Hae-Ri (Bae Suzy) is an NIS agent and is currently working undercover at the Korean embassy in Morocco. She is tasked by the embassy to help the bereaved families from the fatal flight. Cha Dal-Geon turns to Go Hae-Ri for help in finding the man he saw in Morocco who was a passenger on the flight. Soon, Cha Dal-Geon and Go Hae-Ri uncover a far darker and more sinister conspiracy than they expected.

Kim Moon-Ho (Yoo Ji-Tae) is a popular reporter at major broadcasting company. One day, he learns the truth of a case that took place in the past. He intentionally approaches people who are related to the case and helps them. While doing so, he agonizes over the truth and beliefs.
Meanwhile, with the help of Kim Moon-Ho, internet reporter Chae Young-Shin (Park Min-Young) and Seo Jung-Hoo (Ji Chang-Wook), known as "Healer," grow into real reporters.

Ga Mo-Tak (Yu Jun-Sang) is a former police officer. He had an accident 7 years ago, which caused him to lose his memory. He is a righteous person.
Do Ha-Na (Kim Se-Jeong) can sense evil spirits from hundreds of kilometers away. When she touches someone, she can read their memories.
Chu Mae-Ok (Yum Hye-Ran) is the chef of the noodle restaurant. She is the anchor of "Counter."
Choi Jang-Mool (Ahn Suk-Hwan) is the first "Counter” of Korea. He is in charge of managing expenses fr the group.

Meanwhile, Oh Mi-Joo writes subtitle translations for movies. She was thrilled when she first she her name as a translator during the end credits. In-Ha has a Pinocchio Syndrome. Whenever she lies she gets the hiccups. In-Ha and Dal-Po get along well until Dal-Po learns that In-Ha's mother (Jin Kyung) is the reporter that covered the waste facility fire that destroyed his family. Dal-Po tries to distance himself from In-Ha, but he also develops feelings for her.
Years later, Dal-Po and In-Ha's family are now living in Seoul. In-Ha attempts to become a reporter like her mother. In-Ha meets her mother for the first time in years at a job interview for MSC Broadcasting Station. Her mother is the person giving her the job interview. In-Ha though fails the job interview. Her mother rejects her because of her Pinocchio Syndrome.
Dal-Po is now driving a taxi to support their family. One day, Dal-Po meets In-Ha's mother and decides to become a reporter.
